May 12, 2017 Just after 4am Needham Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on Johnson at Tamina. They arrived to find 3 homes fully involved. Shenandoah Officers, Oak Ridge Officers and Montgomery County Deputes heard the call go out with possible victims trapped and also responded. They arrived just before fire crews and made entry in an attempt to save the victims. The officers made it into the home and to the stairwell where they were driven back by smoke and heat two of those Shenandoah officers and an Oak Ridge officer are now hospitalized with smoke inhalation and in addition one has a cut to the arm. Also transported to hospitals in Houston is a grandfather, grandmother, a middle aged male and a 10-years old child, they are critical with severe burns. The mother of the child was also transported but was in stable condition. In addition 3 children between 6-year-old and 13-years-old perished in the blaze. Crews from Needham, South Montgomery County, Spring, Porter, Magnolia, New Caney, Caney Creek and Woodlands firefighters battled the blaze for close to two hours before bringing it under control. At this time Tamina Road is closed as firefighters had to lay close to one mile of hose. Hardy/Main is also closed from Woodson as fire trucks continue to enter the scene. The officers are not believed to be serious , it is unknown on the other victims. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
