January 20m 2017 – At 10:12PM Thursday evening, San Luis Obispo Fire Dept received a 911 call of smoke coming from a home with smoke alarms sounding in the Laguna Lake Mobile Estates off of Prefumo Canyon Road. When myself and Engine 4 arrived on scene 5 minutes after initial dispatch moderate smoke was showing from the home’s eaves and a neighbor stated there was no response from anyone inside with the doors locked.
Firefighters immediately pulled a hoseline, breached the front door and made an aggressive interior attack into the residence attacking the fire. The next engine laddered the roof and provided vertical ventilation assistance to the interior crews. Simultaneously, a primary search of the home was immediately completed and an unresponsive female victim was located in the residence. She was removed from the home but unfortunately declared deceased on scene.
The name and age of the deceased is being withheld at this time. Police and Fire investigators were called to the scene and that investigation is ongoing. More information will be released as available.
