On April 20, 2017 firefighters from the Queens section of NY went to work on a 2 Alarm Multiple Dwelling fire on 1615 Putnam Avenue. It was reported during operations that a firefighter from Ladder 135 was killed as a result of a fall after attempting to get into the bucket of the fire truck. During that attempt the firefighter tragically fell from the roof to the sidewalk below.
The firefighter was pronounced dead at the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.
