This afternoon, March 31, the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will honor public safety personnel at its annual Public Safety Awards Luncheon. Among those recognized will be Montgomery County Police officers and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue personnel who responded to the Flower Branch Apartments fatal explosion and fire on Arliss Street in Silver Spring during the overnight hours of August 10 into August 11, 2016.
In conjunction with this ceremony, the Police Department is releasing two videos created by the Police Department regarding the emergency response to the explosion/fire. These two videos include responding officers’ body-camera footage.
While the Department and community recognize the efforts of the public safety personnel who responded to the fire, we also remember the seven people who lost their lives in the apartment explosion and fire that night on Arliss Street.
