LA County FD Fatal Fire East Rancho

9/9/2013 East Rancho Dominguez – Los Angeles County Firefighters first on scene on the 4300 block of East Compton Boulevard reported a two story commercial building with “fire through the roof,” requesting a Second Alarm Assignment. Firefighters went directly to master streams and set up two ladder pipes to knock down the main bulk of fire in approximately twenty minutes. A knock down on the blaze was declared at least an hour later. The fire involved a 50 by 100 ft. auto repair shop with living quarters upstairs. Two persons were reported missing in the fire, with Firefighters discovering human remains in the rubble. One Firefighter suffered a leg injury and was transported to a local hospital. Compton Fire Department assisted on scene. The cause of the 2 A.M. blaze is under investigation. -MNR-
