LAFD – Commercial Fire Verdugo Rancho Market

June 4, 2013

Firefighters first on scene at 3342 Verdugo Road reported a large one story market with “smoke showing” in L.A.’s Glassell Park district. Firefighters forced entry to “Verdugo Rancho Market” and encountered heavy smoke conditions throughout. Firefighters on the roof reported fire showing from the markets ventilators. When conditions worsened and heavy fire started venting through the roof, Firefighters were ordered out the building and went directly to Master Streams. The main bulk of fire was knocked down with Handlines, Portable Monitors and Ladder Pipes. After several roof collapses, the fire was knocked down several hours later. One Firefighter suffered a minor injury, the building was a total loss. The cause of the night time fire is under investigation. -MNR- (FIRELENSMAN)
