A beloved Shirley woman died yesterday, after a fire sparked by an unattended candle quickly spread through her family’s home, leaving her trapped in an upstairs bathroom, Suffolk police said.

Delores Hutt, 57, was sleeping upstairs when the fire broke at around 4:30 a.m. Police said her sister left a candle burning in a downstairs living room as she went to make tea. She soon smelled smoke and returned to find a blanket burning on top of a couch…
